The entire site was upgraded this morning from WordPress 2.3.3 to version 2.6.2. The upgrade went seamlessly, and all plug-in upgrades appear to have gone seamlessly as well. The entire process took approximately one half hour to forty-five minutes.
I actually only did a quick back-up of major files, and ran this one by the seat of my pants. That’s how confident I am about WordPress upgrading successfully since 2.3. The only thing I had to change were the short-code tags that the new version of eShop version 2 uses (from comment-style wrapper to the bracket).
I went ahead and did the upgrade, because I’m working a site for a client at work and of course started to appreciate the latest and greatest. I admit I’d gotten lazy with this site over the last several months.
I’m considering installing the GeoPress plug-in to give it a spin. Looks like slick work. I’ll have to look further into it though — if it lacks any ability to automatically parse image metadata (Geo specific keys), I might not bother with it. Bigger fish to fry at the moment.
