Where Have I Been?

July 7th, 2008 · No Comments · Trackback/Ping ·

It’s been a while since I’ve posted — and of course, I’ve come back to a plethora of emails in relation to asking where I’ve been.

I’m no longer working full-time in the Remote Sensing / GIS industry, as of the last month. I’ve taken a position with a multi-media and design studio based, of all places, here in my little hometown.

It was simply time to move on — nothing significant really seemed to be developing in relation to satellite/aerial production techniques (that I would consider significant anyway), and to be frank, I’ve really not cared much for the industry in light of the manipulative practices of so many of the players involved. It was an industry I became involved with, primarily out of accidental circumstances, after the dot-com break-ups where design and graphics were my mainstay. I came from a creative world, where people were actually quite sharing and team-oriented — and most importantly, quite friendly and collegial toward each other. And in fact, I’m experiencing this type of environment once again in this life — and it happens to be because I’m working with those people once again.

I managed to do some really interesting things, and contributed some things that were relatively significant in their time, looking back — and I’ll always keep an eye on what’s going on, because it’s an interest or a sort of passion. But, I don’t plan on jumping into any massive world database projects, consulting on development projects, or busting out contracts for anybody anytime soon or in the perceivable future.

So take care, I suppose. And I hope everyone has had a Happy Independence Day weekend and such.
