Phantom Update From Microsoft

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments · Trackback/Ping · Share This

So that was interesting. I’m sitting here, drinking my morning coffee — catching up on news, messages, and whatnots — and in comes an update from Microsoft. But, once the update was done downloading — the shield icon disappeared without notifying me whether or not I wished to update.

So what’s up, Microsoft? I looked through the latest update records at Microsoft’s site — and there’s no mention of this newest update. Up to no good again, or am I mistaken here — in that my preferences are all set to notify me about installing any updates? You see, I kind of get a little bug up where the sun don’t shine when I see stuff like this occur. I’m not exactly appreciative of things like this when it’s not documented, and especially when I’m not notified.

Nope. Microsoft Update still only indicates that the last update on this machine was on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Funny that, yeah?
