Can I Automatically Generate Maps Using WordPress?

July 26th, 2008 · No Comments

I get this question quite a bit. Conceivably? Yes. How would I go about doing this? Sticking to standards, and not using others’ proprietary methods. Why? Umm, standards exist because everyone can adopt them into their flavor of application — which is to say, that it may not be the best thing on the block, […]

Radiohead, LiDAR for House of Cards Video

July 20th, 2008 · 2 Comments

The directors for Radiohead’s latest video, House of Cards, used LiDAR to great creative effect. It’s always nice to see someone using such a technology for creative purposes. That’s just my opinion, however. This also has to do with my belief in there being more of a balance in society understanding these technologies more by […]

Where Have I Been?

July 7th, 2008 · No Comments

It’s been a while since I’ve posted — and of course, I’ve come back to a plethora of emails in relation to asking where I’ve been.
I’m no longer working full-time in the Remote Sensing / GIS industry, as of the last month. I’ve taken a position with a multi-media and design studio based, of all […]

Phantom Update From Microsoft

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments

So that was interesting. I’m sitting here, drinking my morning coffee — catching up on news, messages, and whatnots — and in comes an update from Microsoft. But, once the update was done downloading — the shield icon disappeared without notifying me whether or not I wished to update.
So what’s up, Microsoft? I looked through […]

  • Tue, 29 Apr 2008 at 6:15 am · USGS released updated data-sets that are more informative across the entire CONUS, with their 2008 Earthquake Hazard Maps. Well done — now the public can very easily discern fault activities in areas other than California and the West Coast. · (0)
  • Thu, 24 Apr 2008 at 10:07 pm · Okay, I have to speak up here — and point-out that it was what the tax-payers originally agreed to. In fact, I dropped ASPRS membership when I was asked to sign a document that approves of this current administration’s outline to make the 2011 Landsat Continuity Mission a commercialized venture moving forward. This shouldn’t be news — this should prompt a clarified explanation as to why it wasn’t set-up that way from day one! I’m still waiting on any reaction to the public being ill informed on the smaller fault-lines and whether the USGS will ever incorporate that seismic monitoring in their datasets — as was highlighted by the recent St. Louis quake. · (0)

Browser Statistics For Monday, April 21, 2008

April 21st, 2008 · No Comments

That just kind of says it all about what’s been happening, doesn’t it? I’ve been watching this progressively change since the play against Yahoo! and the recent visa request in Congress — and sure enough, there it is. The trend does not lie.

Redesign, On Hold

March 19th, 2008 · No Comments

I scrapped the idea of redesigning the site for now, in favor of waiting for the final release of WordPress version 2.5. I have a development install of WordPress on another server to work-out the design there — when everything’s ready, I’ll simply transition the template over to do a seamless, instant upgrade.

Envisat Observes Regional CO2 Emissions

Envisat Makes First Ever Observation of Regionally Elevated CO2 From Man-made Emissions — ESA, European Space Agency
