Surfing the web this morning and the usual geospatial blogs — I’m coming across the expected criticism of the iPhone, and its apparent lack of GPS location technology integrated with Google Maps, or even a lack of WiFi triangulation. (Which actually, if anyone knows anything about the wireless game — WiFi isn’t the answer, WiMAX [...]

The current alert was a local notification of a mother and her three children abducted and possibly enroute to Florida in a burgundy colored Dodge Caravan. I had gone back and forth a little with Dave Troy a while back, introducing the idea of an Amber Alert mash-up al la FlickrVision. He liked the idea, but was busy at the time. The main problem I encountered, when looking into Amber Alert — is that the XML feed isn’t publicly accessible. You must first become an approved organization or entity by submitting to the powers-that-be, as well as submit documentation about the system you wish to build or provide. This also leads to what I’ve noticed as being proprietary created software apps that you then have to pay for, just to gain access or present a public service announcement. (So not in the interest of the greater good, one could reason.) · (0)

- Mon, 25 Jun 2007 at 5:28 am · I’ve received a number of messages asking when I’ll be ready to release the plug-ins for Photoshop®. The answer: They’ve been ready for release for some time. I’m just contemplating the best way to distribute them, as well as my having thought the new version of Geographic Imager would be coming out by now. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, so I haven’t been able to get an idea of how my plugins will help anyone interested. (It’s kind of nice to go forward with a little information, anyway.) And no — these plug-ins are not geospatially capable, like Geographic Imager. If you would like to be able to have Geotiff support in Photoshop, then I’d suggest purchasing Geographic Imager. What my plug-ins do is image processing and production related. · (0)

All concept and production notes have been moved to their own post. In this post, I’ll keep an active record of the ongoing progress as it develops. I also now anticipate that this project will be ongoing indefinitely, and as time allows.

Vision-Centric Typography Project
June 8th, 2007 · No Comments
I’ve embarked on another personal project that I’ve wanted to do for several years. The creation of a “vision-centric” pixel typeface family — one that aimed to acheive a priority in both style and scanability at very small sizes. (As a friend commented, “That’s just what we need - another 8pt typeface on the Web.” [...]

- Fri, 8 Jun 2007 at 4:35 am · Charles and Aaron over at WordPress Podcast discussed some comments I left regarding an idea that Aaron mentioned he’d had in Episode 24, about a strict form of serving Blog content. It paralleled well to the ideas myself and friends have had about Entity based sharing and confluence via the Web using XML, RSS, etc, and I hoped to highlight some initial concepts. In Episode 25, however, I think what they’re requesting is a bit more ellaboration. · (0)
